New Delhi, December 8: Indian cricket captain Shubman Gill has praised the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (COE) for playing a key role in his fitness ahead of the upcoming T20 series against South Africa.

Gill was injured while batting in the Kolkata Test against South Africa and missed the second Test as well as the three-match ODI series. However, he is now ready to feature in the five-match T20 series.

In a video shared by BCCI on social media, Gill spoke about his recovery, saying, “I am feeling much better now. Since the day I arrived here, I have done many skill sessions and training sessions. I feel much better today. From recovery to training, there is nothing better than this for an athlete. This place is like heaven for any athlete. You come here to improve physically and mentally.”

Talking about the facilities at the Centre of Excellence, Gill added, “You cannot expect better facilities than this. You can go to the oxygen chamber, there is cryotherapy, and the recovery methods I used were excellent. What stood out for me was the number of machines here that I didn’t even know how to use. That shows how big the setup is.”

Praising the trainers and coaches who work with players at the COE, Gill said, “All the coaches are here to work with us. You have all the trainers and physios, but how willing you are to work on yourself from that aspect will take you a step ahead of other players.”
