Dubai, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : India secured a commanding victory over Pakistan, winning by seven wickets in the ninth match of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 held in Dubai on September 5. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur expressed her satisfaction with the team’s performance and is hopeful for their continued success in the upcoming semi-final and final matches.
Following the match, Kaur remarked, “This was a crucial game for us, and I am thrilled with how the entire team performed. We consistently talk about playing fearless and aggressive cricket, and today the team showcased that spirit.”
India’s bowlers delivered an exceptional performance, restricting Pakistan to just 55 runs in 18.1 overs. Shree Charani and Prema Rawat impressed with their economical bowling, taking 7 wickets for 3 runs and 9 wickets for 3 runs, respectively. Deepti Sharma also contributed by claiming 2 wickets for only 5 runs.
Commenting on the bowling display, Kaur stated, “All the bowlers did a fantastic job. They adhered to their plans and read the pitch well. Understanding the pitch and executing plans accordingly was crucial.”
Chasing a modest target of 56 runs, India faced early challenges, losing three wickets for just 29 runs. However, they clinched the match in 8.4 overs. Kaur addressed the early setbacks, saying, “It’s part of the game. The opposing bowlers delivered some good deliveries. It was important for us to stay at the crease, continue batting, and finish the match quickly.”
With this victory, the Indian team has reached the final of the Women’s Asia Cup 2026. Kaur expressed her delight, stating, “This is very significant for us. We aim to maintain our high standards.
