Indian Athletes Shine at Asian Games 2026, Receive Praise from PM Modi and President Murmu

Aichi-Nagoya, September 28 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu congratulated Indian athletes on their impressive performances at the ongoing Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya. As of now, India has secured a total of 45 medals, including 4 gold, 20 silver, and 21 bronze, placing the country in 12th position overall.

Young shooter Esha Singh earned a silver medal in the women’s 25-meter pistol event. The Prime Minister’s Office shared Modi’s message on social media platform X, stating, “Congratulations to Esha Singh for winning the silver medal in the women’s 25-meter pistol individual event at the Asian Games 2026. With an excellent score, Esha displayed remarkable precision and patience. Wishing her continued success in the future.”

Pinky Balhara also made headlines by winning a bronze medal in the women’s -78 kg kurash event, becoming the first Indian to win two medals in this sport at the continental competition. Previously, she earned a silver medal in 2018. Modi praised her, saying, “Congratulations to Pinky Balhara for winning the bronze medal in the women’s 78 kg kurash event at the Asian Games. She showed tremendous courage and determination throughout. I hope she continues to reach new heights and achieves more honors in the future.”

President Murmu took to her official X account to congratulate Vithya Ramraj for winning a bronze medal in the women’s 400-meter hurdles. She wrote, “Heartfelt congratulations to Vithya Ramraj for winning the bronze medal in the women’s 400 meters hurdles at the Asian Games 2026. With her best performance yet and a new national record, your outstanding achievement adds another glorious milestone to India’s athletics journey. Your record-setting performance will inspire the younger generation to set high goals and strive for excellence.”

In addition, Indian long-distance runner Gulveer Singh secured a silver medal in the men’s 1500-meter race after previously finishing second in the 10,000 meters. The President recognized his achievement, stating, “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Gulveer Singh for winning the silver medal in the men’s 1500-meter race at the Asian Games 2026. Achieving his best performance in this event makes this success even more remarkable. Following his silver in the 10,000 meters, this is another excellent display on the track at these Games. I wish him continued success in the years ahead.”

Parul Chaudhary added to India’s medal tally by winning her second bronze at the Asian Games 2026. After finishing third in the women’s 3000-meter steeplechase, she also claimed bronze in the women’s 5000-meter final on Monday.

The President praised Parul, saying, “Congratulations to Parul Chaudhary for winning the bronze medal in the women’s 5000 meters at the Asian Games 2026. Winning two medals in just two days is a remarkable achievement. May this memorable double success inspire you to reach even greater heights in your sporting journey.”
