Ahmedabad, September 28 (Daily Kiran) : The 10th Adani Ahmedabad Marathon, set for November 29, has received backing from Gujarat’s Deputy Chief Minister and Sports Minister, Harsh Sanghvi. Ahead of the event, Sanjay Adesara, Chief Business Officer of Adani Sportsline, presented Sanghvi with the official marathon jersey.
This year’s marathon continues the “Run for Our Soldier” initiative, which has united citizens and armed forces over the past decade to honor the courage, service, and sacrifice of Indian soldiers. The event coincides with Ahmedabad’s preparations to host the Commonwealth Games in 2030.
Sanghvi expressed pride in the marathon, stating, “Completing the 10th edition of the Adani Ahmedabad Marathon is a moment of pride for Ahmedabad. It demonstrates how sports can unite people for a greater cause. For a decade, the marathon has promoted the spirit of ‘Run for Our Soldier,’ providing thousands of citizens the opportunity to honor our armed forces. From the historic battles of 1947 to the determination shown in Operation Sindoor, our soldiers have stood as an unwavering shield for our nation. It’s heartening to see armed forces personnel participating in this journey, with the city coming together year after year in their honor.”
He added, “As Ahmedabad gears up for the Commonwealth Games 2030, it is solidifying its place on the global sports map. Such efforts play a crucial role in building a strong culture of fitness, participation, and community around sports. I congratulate Adani Sportsline for reaching this significant milestone and actively contributing to Ahmedabad’s growing sports ecosystem. The jersey for the 10th edition symbolizes the decade-long journey and the spirit that continues to unite the city.”

The marathon began in November 2017, with its fifth edition held in November 2021. It features a full marathon, half marathon, 10 km race, and a 5 km run. The first two editions attracted nearly 20,000 participants, while the third and fourth editions saw over 17,000 runners.
In 2022, the Ahmedabad Marathon was included in the Global Marathon Event List by AIMS World Running, marking it as the only race from Ahmedabad to achieve this recognition. In 2025, over 24,000 participants joined the “Run for Our Soldier” event, demonstrating solidarity with the armed forces. Last year, more than 3,000 defense personnel participated, with a significant portion of the proceeds benefiting the welfare of the armed forces.
