New Delhi, September 5 (Daily Kiran) : Shefali Verma has etched her name in the record books by becoming the youngest woman to score 3,000 runs in T20 international cricket. Achieving this milestone at just 22 years and 220 days, she surpassed the previous record held by Ireland’s Gaby Lewis, who reached the mark at 24 years and 347 days.
In the current standings, UAE’s Isha Oza ranks third at 27 years and 139 days, while India’s Smriti Mandhana and West Indies’ Hayley Matthews follow closely behind at 27 years and 171 days and 27 years and 347 days, respectively.
Verma’s historic achievement came during the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 match against Pakistan, held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. In that game, she scored 12 runs off six balls, including one six and one four, to cross the 3,000-run threshold. She now stands as the 16th female player in T20 international history to reach this landmark, joining fellow Indians Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur.
The match saw Pakistan batting first after winning the toss, but they struggled to reach a mere 55 runs in 18.1 overs. Muniba Ali and Shawal Zulfiqar managed a brief partnership of 27 runs for the first wicket before a dramatic collapse ensued. India’s bowlers excelled, with Sri Charani and Prema Rawat each taking three wickets, while Deepti Sharma claimed two. Verma also contributed with one wicket.
In response, India chased down the target comfortably, finishing at 56 runs for the loss of just three wickets in 8.4 overs. Verma was dismissed early at a score of 13, followed by Pratika Rawal at 18. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, unbeaten on 18, guided the team to victory alongside Deepti Sharma, who scored 12 runs. Pakistan’s captain Fatima Sana took all three wickets for her team.
