Mumbai, June 12: A distressing incident has emerged from the Chickenipada area of Kalyan, Maharashtra, early Friday morning. A newborn baby was discovered in a trash bin beneath a tree outside the Shri Vitthal Temple, sending shockwaves through the community.
The shocking revelation occurred when visitors to the temple noticed a bag in the trash. Upon inspection, they found the newborn inside. Local resident Pooja Dawarekar promptly took the infant to Rukminibai Hospital for medical attention.
This heart-wrenching event has sparked outrage among local residents, who are demanding strict action against those who abandoned the child.
According to hospital doctors, the baby is approximately 6 to 7 days old and is currently in stable health. Dr. Sulochana Tribhuvan from Rukminibai Hospital provided the necessary medical care following an initial examination.
The hospital administration has initiated legal proceedings and is preparing to send the newborn to a childcare facility to ensure proper care and protection.
Meanwhile, the Kolsewadi police arrived at the scene shortly after learning of the incident and have begun their investigation. They are reviewing CCTV footage from the temple and surrounding areas to identify the individual or individuals who left the baby there. Additionally, they are questioning nearby residents, shopkeepers, and temple staff.
Police officials stated that every aspect of the case is being thoroughly investigated, and efforts are underway to quickly identify those responsible. This incident has once again raised serious questions about the inhumane act of abandoning newborns in society.
