Nalanda, August 10: In a shocking incident in Bihar’s Nalanda district, criminals executed a daylight murder of a Panchayat committee member and a compounder. The attack occurred near Tarapur village in the Ekangarsarai police station area, where assailants on motorcycles ambushed the victims. The deceased has been identified as 46-year-old Shyam Prasad, a Panchayat committee member from Amanar Khas and a compounder at a private hospital.
Reports indicate that Shyam Prasad was returning home on his motorcycle after finishing his duty at the hospital. As he approached Tarapur village, unknown assailants, who had been lying in wait, launched their attack.
Eyewitnesses claim that the attackers got extremely close to Shyam Prasad and shot him in the neck. He collapsed on the road and succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Following the incident, the assailants fled the scene.
Upon receiving news of the murder, a large crowd of family members and villagers gathered at the site. Angered by the killing, they placed the body on the Ekangarsarai square and blocked the road, causing significant traffic disruption in the area.
In response to the roadblock and protests, local police sprang into action. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, police from three stations, led by DSP-2 Rishiraj, arrived at the scene. Officers attempted to persuade the family and villagers to lift the blockade.
The police have taken possession of the body to initiate a post-mortem examination. They are also gathering scientific evidence from the crime scene and reviewing nearby CCTV footage.
Currently, the motives behind the murder remain unclear. Authorities state that they are investigating all angles and are committed to identifying and apprehending the culprits soon.
The incident has created an atmosphere of fear and outrage in the community. Villagers are demanding the swift arrest of the criminals and justice for the victim’s family.
