Manchester, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : Significant changes are on the horizon for Lancashire Women’s cricket team following the conclusion of the 2026 season. The club has announced that seven players will be leaving, including the experienced England fast bowler Kate Cross and all-rounder Fee Morris, both of whom will retire after their contracts expire.
Joining them in departing are Seren Smell, Hannah Jones, Liv Bell, Alice Clarke, and Danny Collins. The exit of these players marks the end of an era for Lancashire, as they have been instrumental in the team’s success over the years.
Kate Cross has been one of the most successful representatives of the “Red Rose” team. She has played over 200 matches for Lancashire, taking 244 wickets across her amateur and professional career. On the international stage, she has participated in 102 matches for England and claimed 140 wickets, even captaining the national team in 2024.
Fee Morris joined the club in 2023 and made significant contributions with both bat and ball. She scored over 1,000 runs and took more than 50 wickets for both Thunder and Lancashire. Her standout performance in 2025 helped the team secure victories in both the Vitality T20 County Cup and the Metro Bank One-Day Cup.
Seren Smell, a product of Lancashire’s development system, has also decided to leave. She has amassed over 2,000 runs in all formats for Thunder and Lancashire, with a crucial 72-run innings in the One-Day Cup final last season leading to a trophy win.
Hannah Jones, a left-arm spinner from Manchester who emerged from the Red Rose Academy, leaves the club having taken 122 wickets across all formats. Her contributions were vital in securing the 2025 One-Day Cup, where she claimed 14 wickets.
Liv Bell had an impressive year in 2023, taking 25 wickets in her debut season with Thunder. The Scottish international also represented her country in the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup. Alice Clarke, who progressed from the academy to debut for Lancashire in 2018, played as an opener in both the semi-final and final of last season’s One-Day Cup. Danny Collins, who made her debut at the age of 15, leaves with a personal best of 51 runs and a total of 863 runs for the club.
The departures of these players signify a significant transition for Lancashire Women as they look to build a new team for the future.
