Worsley, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : Pakistan’s Under-19 cricket team delivered a stunning performance on September 16 in Worsley, defeating England’s Under-19 squad by 200 runs in the fourth Youth One Day International. This victory allowed Pakistan to secure the series with a 3-1 overall win.
After narrowly losing the only youth Test match by just 10 runs, Pakistan bounced back by winning the first ODI by 177 runs. They followed that with another strong performance, winning the second match by 122 runs. Although England managed to edge out a close victory in the third match by 2 runs, Pakistan’s final match showcased their dominance.
Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Pakistan posted an impressive total of 350 runs, losing just four wickets. Usman Khan and Jahangir Bilal opened the innings with a solid partnership of 148 runs for the first wicket. Jahangir scored 79 runs off 81 balls, hitting 13 boundaries before being dismissed.
Usman continued the momentum, adding 37 runs with Abdul Qadir for the second wicket, taking the score to 185. He finished with 79 runs, including 10 boundaries, while Qadir contributed 22 runs off 18 balls.
The team faced its third wicket loss at a score of 197, but captain Farhan Yusuf then forged a crucial partnership of 144 runs with Ahmad Hussain for the fourth wicket. Ahmad scored 63 runs off 53 balls, while Farhan remained unbeaten at 80 runs, hitting three sixes and eight fours in just 54 balls. For England, Subhan Ali took two wickets, while Ralphie Albert and George Harris claimed one each.
In response, England crumbled to just 150 runs in 20.4 overs. Captain Ralphie Albert and Isaaq Mohammad provided a brief resistance, putting on a 59-run partnership for the first wicket in six overs. Mohammad scored 32 runs off 20 balls, and Albert contributed 46 runs from 24 balls, including two sixes and six fours.
However, once both openers were dismissed with the score at 81, England’s batting lineup fell apart. Jo Moors managed 15 runs, while Jack Nielsen and Robbie Bowman each added 21 runs. The remaining six batsmen failed to reach double figures.
For Pakistan, Ahmad Hussain was the standout bowler, taking three wickets for just 16 runs. Nakab Shafiq, Mohammad Sayyam, and Jahangir Bilal each took two wickets, while Rizwanullah claimed one.
