Sharda Devi Prioritizes Peace and Rehabilitation of Displaced in Manipur

Imphal, June 5: A. Sharda Devi, the President of the Manipur BJP and a candidate for the Rajya Sabha, stated on Friday that restoring peace in the state and ensuring the safe return of displaced individuals will be among her top priorities if elected to the upper house of Parliament.

Sharda Devi has been nominated by the party as its candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections from Manipur. In an exclusive interview, she expressed gratitude to the BJP’s national leadership for the opportunity to represent the state. She emphasized her commitment to raising critical issues facing Manipur and working towards sustainable solutions.

“I am very pleased that the leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party, including our Prime Minister Narendra Modi and National President Nitin Naveen, have given me the chance to become a Rajya Sabha candidate. I aim to work in alignment with the ideology and sentiments of the BJP. The responsibility entrusted to me for the state is significant and crucial,” she said.

Regarding the ongoing crisis in the state, the BJP President highlighted that special attention will be given to the welfare of displaced individuals residing in relief camps. She assured that proposals for their swift rehabilitation and return home will be advanced. Expressing confidence ahead of the 2027 assembly elections, Sharda Devi stated that the BJP will secure victory based on the development initiatives and welfare schemes implemented by both the central and state governments.

She praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP’s national leadership for empowering women and ensuring greater participation of women in politics, government, and organizational structures. As a female leader and party worker, she expressed gratitude for the opportunities provided to women under the BJP’s leadership.
