Pune, February 16: Shahzad Poonawala, spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has sharply responded to Mani Shankar Aiyar’s comments regarding Rahul Gandhi. He stated that no leader trusts Rahul Gandhi anymore.
In an interview with a news agency, Poonawala remarked, “This morning, I saw the news where Mani Shankar Aiyar from Kerala expressed a lack of confidence in Rahul Gandhi, stating that he cannot win elections. By afternoon, the TMC party from West Bengal echoed the sentiment, saying, ‘Remove Rahul, bring in Mamata, save the India Alliance.’ This clearly indicates that no leader has faith in Rahul Gandhi.”
Poonawala highlighted that Rahul Gandhi has faced defeat in 95 elections. Leaders of the ‘India’ coalition are distancing themselves from him and do not heed his words. Essentially, there is neither public support nor camaraderie with Rahul Gandhi.
On the statement made by Admiral Samuel J. Paparo, commander of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, Poonawala asserted that the world acknowledges the prowess of ‘Operation Sindoor.’ He emphasized that the Indian Army has not only provided evidence but has also set a new precedent: if Pakistan engages in terrorist attacks, India will retaliate decisively.
He stated, “Regardless of being a nuclear power, we have not only defended our borders but have also targeted their terrorist camps and military bases, burying the terrorists right where they stand.”
Targeting the Congress Party, Poonawala remarked, “The world recognizes India’s strength, but it is unfortunate that certain elements within India question ‘Operation Sindoor.’ Prithviraj Chavan dismisses the military operation, while Rahul Gandhi refers to it as ‘surrender.’ Therefore, this is not the Indian National Congress; it is the Islamabad National Congress.”
Poonawala also responded to Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge’s comments against the RSS, stating, “Priyank Kharge is the Rahul Gandhi of Karnataka. He is a ‘nepo kid’ in Karnataka, trying to impress Rahul Gandhi and gain the limelight.”
