Gujarat Government Announces Over 1,600 Additional Buses for Diwali Travel

Surat, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : The Gujarat government is set to enhance travel convenience during the festive season with the announcement of over 1,600 additional buses for Diwali. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi made this declaration during a press conference in Surat on October 11.

Sanghvi highlighted the importance of facilitating business and travel during the Navratri festival, stating that arrangements have been made to allow traders to operate late into the night. “I am working to ensure that the business during Navratri does not fall short compared to Diwali,” he said.

To support families celebrating Diwali, the government decided to increase the number of buses from last year’s 1,200 to more than 1,600 this year. The Deputy Chief Minister assured that measures are in place to prevent passengers from having to pay extra for tickets.

He urged citizens to book their tickets in advance, explaining that if demand rises, they are prepared to operate up to 2,500 buses if necessary. “If your Diwali plans are finalized, please make sure to book your tickets,” he advised.

Sanghvi also mentioned that operating buses to other states requires permission. He expressed willingness to assist other states if requested.

Regarding the Garba festivities, he emphasized the need for fire safety measures at Garba venues. The police have been instructed to ensure adequate arrangements. “We want people to participate in the night celebrations and worship during this festive time,” he said, noting the cultural significance of Garba as a long-standing tradition.
