Shahdara Police Crack Down on Crime with Major Arrests and Drug Seizures

Shahdara, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : The Shahdara police in New Delhi have made significant strides in combating crime, executing three major operations recently. DCP Rajendra Prasad Meena shared details about these initiatives, which include a late-night shooting incident, a large seizure of illegal alcohol, and the arrest of an active vehicle thief along with the recovery of five stolen motorcycles.

On the night of the shooting, police received a distress call at 9:20 PM. Upon arrival, they found a man named Javed injured from a gunshot wound. A woman accompanying him had also been attacked with a knife. Both victims were promptly hospitalized and are now reported to be out of danger.

Investigations revealed that Javed has a criminal background. He was wanted in connection with a murder case from October of the previous year at the Seemapuri police station, for which a reward of ₹50,000 had been announced by the Delhi police.

DCP Meena stated that the suspects involved in the shooting have been identified and will be apprehended soon as the police continue to explore all angles of the case.

In a separate operation, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) in Shahdara intercepted a significant shipment of illegal alcohol. DCP Meena explained that Inspector Arjun received a tip-off about a substantial supply of illicit liquor in the area. Following this information, a team was formed, which included various officers and constables.

The team set up a trap near the railway line in Jwala Nagar, where they stopped a vehicle. A search revealed 5,000 quarters of illegal alcohol. The suspect, identified as Kuldeep, also known as Bunty, was arrested on-site. The police seized the tempo used for transporting the alcohol and a scooter as well.

Interrogation of the suspect is ongoing to uncover the source of the alcohol and the areas in Delhi where it was being distributed. This operation is being hailed as a major success for the ANTF.

Additionally, to address the rising incidents of motorcycle thefts in the district, a special team was formed. This operation was led by Inspector Pradeep under the supervision of ACP Pawan. The police set up a trap in the GTB police station area, where they apprehended a suspicious individual. Upon searching him, they discovered a stolen motorcycle. Further questioning revealed information about four additional stolen vehicles, leading to the recovery of a total of five motorcycles.

The suspect, identified as Ankit, is a 28-year-old resident of Mandoli. Police records indicate that he has two prior criminal cases against him. Among the recovered vehicles, two were stolen from Shahdara, two from East Delhi, and one from North Delhi.

This series of operations underscores the Shahdara police’s commitment to enhancing community safety and reducing crime in the area.
