CBI Raids Punjab CMs Office, Arvind Kejriwal Calls It BJPs Election Strategy

Chandigarh, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : Political tensions have escalated in Punjab following a CBI raid at the office of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in Chandigarh. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has labeled the operation as a tactic by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to disrupt the upcoming elections. In response, the CBI confirmed that the raid was conducted under the orders of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, following a registered FIR.

Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of AAP, took to social media platform X to express his views. He stated, “The CBI raid on the Punjab Chief Minister’s office, just two months before the elections, is a result of BJP’s panic. Since the BJP came to power at the center, they have continuously betrayed the people of Punjab, whether during the farmers’ protests or regarding water issues and Punjab University. Now, they are also betraying their elected Chief Minister.”

Kejriwal further asserted that the BJP, unable to win elections in Punjab, is resorting to using agencies like the ED and CBI to influence the electoral process. He claimed that the people of Punjab have made up their minds and will respond to the CBI’s actions by ensuring Bhagwant Mann secures over 100 seats in the upcoming elections.

Earlier, CM Bhagwant Mann also commented on X, stating, “The BJP has begun preparing for the Punjab elections. The CBI raid on my camp office is a misuse of power aimed at defaming the Punjab government and me. The BJP is rattled by the love I am receiving from the people.”

On the other hand, the CBI provided an official statement regarding its actions. According to a release from the agency’s information department, the raid was conducted based on orders from the High Court and a report from the ED. The investigation targets allegations of corruption against the Chief Minister’s Officer on Special Duty and his associates.

The allegations include improper postings of officials (including IAS and IPS officers), departmental actions, policy formulation, administrative approvals, tender conditions, licensing, land use changes, property disputes, and manipulation of revenue and land matters. It is claimed that the accused government employees provided drafts of government orders and policies to private individuals before their official release.
