Air Drop Relief Efforts Underway in Flood-Affected Areas of Bihars Saran District

The Bihar government is utilizing air drops to deliver essential supplies to flood-affected areas in Saran, ensuring timely relief for residents.

Saran, October 3 (Daily Kiran) : In Saran district, Bihar, relief operations are in full swing as air drops are being conducted to assist areas severely impacted by flooding. Under the direction of Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, the Disaster Management Department has coordinated with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Defence to facilitate the delivery of aid via Indian Air Force helicopters.

So far, the Indian Air Force has completed 15 flights, successfully air dropping over 5,600 dry ration packets, which contain more than 28 tons of food supplies for the affected population. Due to flooding and waterlogging, accessing many areas by road has become increasingly difficult. Air drops are now the primary method for delivering essential food supplies to regions where regular transportation has been disrupted.

The objective of this initiative is to ensure timely assistance reaches affected families. Continuous monitoring of the situation in flood-hit areas is being carried out by the Disaster Management Department and local administration. To meet the needs of the impacted population, alternative delivery methods are also being explored alongside road transport. The administration’s goal is to quickly provide necessary relief and food supplies to every family affected by the floods.

Pilots and personnel from various units of the Indian Air Force are playing a crucial role in this special relief operation. The air drop campaign is being led by Group Captain Anuj Gupta and Wing Commander Vishal Khatri from Gorakhpur, along with Squadron Leader Rohit Dadarwal and Flight Lieutenant Kunal Kalamkar from Bagdogra, and Flight Lieutenant Rathaud Bharat Singh, also from Bagdogra.

The Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, and the Indian Air Force for their support in delivering relief materials to those in need during this challenging time. He noted that coordinated efforts between the central and state governments are effectively facilitating relief and rescue operations in the flood-affected regions. Officials are continuously assessing the needs of these areas and will utilize all available means to ensure that necessary relief supplies reach those in need.
