Severe Heatwave Alert Issued for Rajasthan: Relief Expected Soon

Jaipur, April 25: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning regarding a severe heatwave affecting several districts in Rajasthan over the next two days. However, a change in weather is anticipated to bring some relief soon.

The weather department has issued a heatwave alert for districts including Alwar, Bharatpur, Dausa, Deeg, Dholpur, Karauli, and Bikaner. According to the IMD, Rajasthan will continue to face extreme heat for two more days (April 25-26).

Radheyshyam Sharma, director of the Jaipur Meteorological Center, stated that intense heat will persist across the state on April 25 and 26. During this period, temperatures are expected to rise by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius. The northwestern districts of the state will also experience heatwave conditions, with some areas recording temperatures between 44 to 45 degrees Celsius.

Following this, storms and light rain are expected to change the weather pattern. The department forecasts the activation of a ‘Western Disturbance,’ which may bring strong winds, thunderstorms, and light rain to around 16 districts. An alert for strong winds and thunderstorms has also been issued for parts of Sikar, Churu, Jhunjhunu, and Nagaur on Saturday.

In the last 24 hours, most parts of the state have experienced extreme heat. At least 24 cities recorded maximum temperatures between 40 to 44 degrees Celsius, with Barmer reaching the highest at 44.1 degrees Celsius. Jaipur also recorded its hottest day of the season.

In Alwar, the administration has implemented measures such as spraying water on roads to lower surface temperatures and provide temporary relief to residents.

On Friday, a slight change in weather was observed in northwestern Rajasthan. Clouds covered areas in Churu, Hanumangarh, Jhunjhunu, and Bikaner, accompanied by dusty winds in the evening. Light drizzle was reported in some isolated areas of Hanumangarh.

However, relief from the heat remained elusive, and uncomfortable weather persisted. The night temperature in Hanumangarh was recorded at 31.2 degrees Celsius, marking the hottest night of the season. Many cities, including Ajmer, Tonk, Karauli, Dausa, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Nagaur, Jalore, and Pali, recorded their highest temperatures of the season so far.
