Jammu, October 8 (Daily Kiran) : Senior National Conference leader Sheikh Bashir has raised concerns over the alleged assault of a Kashmiri youth in Delhi. He warned that India should not descend into a situation similar to that of Nepal or Bangladesh. Bashir connected this incident to questions regarding democratic rights and law enforcement in the country.
He emphasized the need to first understand why the Kashmiri youth traveled to Delhi and what issues he was protesting. While Bashir stated he lacked details about the assailants, he argued that such incidents undermine law and order. He asserted that individuals should retain their right to express themselves and protest.
Bashir referenced recent events involving opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, who were reportedly taken away by police. He argued that protesting is a democratic right, and the issues raised, including allegations of vote theft and SIR matters, should be addressed rather than suppressed by police action. He criticized the conduct of certain police officials, labeling it as a form of “goonda raj.”
The politician questioned why the youth felt compelled to protest in Delhi rather than Jammu and Kashmir, where similar demonstrations had occurred. He expressed concern over whether democracy and citizens’ rights under the law would persist in the country. Bashir suggested that the violence could be part of a calculated scheme, accusing some individuals of orchestrating such events to create unrest. He also implicated the RSS and the government in this troubling situation.
