
Beijing, August 18: A three-day seminar focusing on the life and thoughts of the late Chinese leader Jiang Zemin commenced on Monday, marking the centenary of his birth.
During the opening ceremony, Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), emphasized the need for an in-depth study of the Three Represents theory in line with the new era’s conditions.
Born in August 1926, Jiang Zemin was elected General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee in 1989. He was a key figure of the third generation of the party’s collective leadership and the principal architect of the Three Represents theory. Jiang passed away in 2022 at the age of 96.
In his address, Cai Qi underscored the importance of maintaining the party’s overall leadership and strengthening the understanding of the CPC Central Committee’s centralized and unified leadership.
He also highlighted the significance of adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of the times, advancing towards the construction of a great nation through Chinese modernization, and achieving national rejuvenation on all fronts.
Additionally, Cai Qi called for robust efforts to promote high-quality development, foster a flourishing socialist culture, build a community with a shared future for humanity, and strengthen comprehensive and strict party governance.
The seminar, running from Monday to Wednesday, is expected to attract around 500 officials, scholars, and other participants.
