New Delhi, May 6: Scotland has announced a 15-member squad for its upcoming tour of Nepal as part of the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2. During this tour, Scotland will face both the host team and the United States in a crucial phase of the competition.
The team is eager to maintain its impressive form in the standings, as valuable points are at stake and the qualification bid is intensifying. The squad features a mix of exciting young talents alongside seasoned players.
Oli Jones, who performed remarkably in the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup 2026, has secured a place in the team. Meanwhile, Michael English continues to progress after his memorable debut in 2024, where he scored 107 runs off 122 balls against Namibia and was named ‘Player of the Match’. Captain Richie Berrington will once again lead the team, having amassed 738 runs in the current cycle.
Berrington will be supported by George Munsey, the team’s leading run-scorer with 1,049 runs. Brandon McMullen has taken 35 wickets in this competition, providing strength to the team as an all-rounder. The return of left-arm fast bowler Bradley Currie has also bolstered the squad significantly.
Currie has claimed 32 wickets in CWCL2. He missed the Namibia tour due to illness, which Scotland won 2-1. His return is a major boost for the team’s bowling attack. However, regular players Chris McBride and Mackenzie Jones are absent for this tour.
This will be Scotland’s first visit to Nepal since February 2023. The last time they were there, they won the trophy at the end of the previous CWCL2 series. Currently, Scotland sits second in the standings with 34 points and will play four matches in Kirtipur. During this period, they will face each opponent twice, aiming to strengthen their bid for a spot in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup global qualifiers next year.
Scotland’s Squad: Richie Berrington (Captain), Matthew Cross, Bradley Currie, Jasper Davidson, Oliver Davidson, Michael English, Owen Gold, Jack Jarvis, Oli Jones, Michael Leask, Finlay McCreath, Brandon McMullen, George Munsey, Safyaan Sharif, Mark Watt.
