New Delhi, May 7: BJP leader and IT cell head Amit Malviya expressed his joy over the party’s victories in West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry. He noted that the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities in these states voted overwhelmingly in favor of the BJP.
Malviya stated that the results reflect not just electoral trends, but a significant social decision. The SC and ST communities have made their voices heard with clarity and conviction, rejecting those who attempted to insult their leader, President Droupadi Murmu. The 2026 West Bengal Assembly results indicate a decisive political shift in reserved constituencies. Out of 68 SC seats, the BJP won 51 (75%), while the Trinamool Congress (TMC) secured only 17, signaling strong support from Dalits.
He further highlighted that the changes in ST seats were even more pronounced. The BJP won all 16 seats in tribal areas like North Bengal and Jungle Mahal, showcasing a unified mandate. The party claimed 67 out of 84 SC/ST seats, reducing TMC’s representation to 17 and nearly eliminating other parties. Previously fragmented and contentious reserved constituencies have now become pillars of BJP dominance. This outcome reflects a deep social penetration among marginalized groups, particularly bolstered by the strengthening of the Matua community in border districts.
In Assam, Malviya noted that the BJP and its allies achieved near-total majority in reserved constituencies. The BJP won 5 out of 9 SC seats, while the NDA secured 8 seats, leaving Congress with just one. In the ST category, the BJP claimed 13 out of 19 seats, with the NDA winning all 19 seats alongside allies like AGP and BPF. The recent delimitation increased ST seats from 16 to 19 and SC seats from 8 to 9, enhancing indigenous and tribal representation. Strong coordination with allies and consistent outreach in Upper Assam and hilly regions ensured this sweeping victory.
Malviya added that this momentum continued in the south. The NDA ally AIADMK won 9 out of 46 reserved SC seats and 1 out of 2 ST seats in Tamil Nadu. In Puducherry, NDA ally AINRC won 2 out of 5 reserved SC seats.
These figures convey more than mere statistics; they send a message. Communities that have long been silenced are now raising their voices. The insult to President Droupadi Murmu has not been forgotten, and the elections have become a means of response. The growing popularity of the BJP in SC/ST reserved seats not only reflects political expansion but also underscores a deep commitment to aspirations, dignity, and representation.
