Sanju Samson Celebrates Return to Form After Thrilling Semi-Final Victory

Mumbai, March 6: In a nail-biting semi-final match held at Wankhede Stadium, India triumphed over England by just 7 runs, thanks to a stunning performance by Sanju Samson. His explosive innings of 89 runs earned him the title of ‘Player of the Match.’

Samson’s innings came off just 42 balls, featuring 7 sixes and 8 fours. He formed a crucial partnership with Ishan Kishan, scoring 97 runs for the second wicket in just 45 balls.

Following the match, Samson expressed his excitement, stating, “It feels great. Honestly, I sensed my form returning after the last match, so I thought it was essential to keep it going. Gaining form in crucial matches for the country is not easy, so I aimed to capitalize on my batting in this big game. I gave myself a bit more time and approached my innings thoughtfully. I had prepared well, and things went my way. I had a bit of luck early on, but after that, I wanted to maintain my rhythm.”

Batting first after losing the toss, India scored 253 runs, losing 7 wickets. In response, England managed 246 runs, also losing 7 wickets.

Regarding the pitch, Samson remarked, “Playing at Wankhede, we know that no score is ever safe. Therefore, I was trying to score as many runs as possible. A score of 250 can be chased here, and England batted very well. I believe they deserve credit for their approach, and it was indeed a fantastic semi-final.”

He added, “We need to assess the conditions accurately. We have played many matches at Wankhede. I am very happy with how the team performed today. Full credit also goes to Jasprit Bumrah. Playing at Wankhede is an incredible experience. One does not bat thinking about scoring centuries; it happens naturally while playing. You just need to keep playing aggressively. I am very pleased to contribute to the team’s success.”

India will face New Zealand in the final match on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
