Jaipur, April 2: In an exciting match of the Indian Football League (IFL) 2025-26, Rajasthan United secured a 2-0 victory over Chanmari FC on Wednesday. Goals from Naoba Meitei and Amadou Soukona in the second half sealed the win for the home team.
Played at the Vidyadhar Nagar Stadium in Jaipur, this victory propelled the ‘Desert Warriors’ to the top of the league table with 11 points from six matches. Meanwhile, Chanmari FC remains in eighth place with five points from the same number of games. Amadou Soukona was named ‘Player of the Match’.
The visiting team showed a strong intent to attack in the early stages. KC Malsomsanga and Jota utilized their speed to advance the play from the flanks. On the other hand, Rajasthan attempted to build their game through short passes, occasionally sending long balls aimed at Amadou Soukona.
The best chance for the home team to score came midway through the first half when a cross from the right was met by Thomyo Shimrei, whose shot went wide of the target. Meanwhile, Chanmari’s striker Suangaihmuna Malsomsanga failed to generate enough power to trouble the goalkeeper after Jota’s initial contact with the cross.
Creating clear scoring opportunities was challenging due to the intense heat and humid conditions. Both teams went into halftime with a scoreless draw.
After the break, Vikrant Sharma brought Naoba Meitei onto the field, and this substitution paid off just seven minutes into the second half. The winger picked up the ball at the edge of the box, dribbled past Degelman, and finished brilliantly from a tight angle, giving his team the lead.
Eight minutes later, the home team doubled their advantage with a stunning long-range shot from Amadou Soukona. After regaining possession in midfield, Gautam Virwani delivered a direct forward pass to the striker, who unleashed a powerful shot from distance that left the goalkeeper stranded.
With a two-goal lead, Rajasthan United fortified their defense and invited Chanmari FC to advance into their half. The visiting team showed urgency in searching for opportunities, but their final passes and finishing lacked the quality needed to trouble the goalkeeper and defense. Thus, the home team remained unbeaten at their ground.
