Mumbai, April 6: Samsung’s upcoming foldable devices are edging closer to their launch date, following a new wave of certifications in India. The Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Flip 8, and a new variant known as the Galaxy Z Wide Fold have all received approvals, alongside a fresh pair of earbuds.
Recently, battery units for these devices passed India’s BIS certification, which typically occurs late in the development process. The listings reveal multiple battery model numbers associated with the Fold 8, Flip 8, and the anticipated Galaxy Z Wide Fold, although Samsung has yet to officially confirm this name. The new audio product is likely the recently leaked Galaxy Buds Able (model SM-U600).
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Wide Fold variant are expected to feature upgraded 5,000mAh batteries, a significant increase from the 4,400mAh capacity that Samsung has maintained for some time. In contrast, the Z Flip 8 is rumored to retain a battery capacity of around 4,300mAh.
Charging capabilities may also see enhancements. The Fold 8 and Wide Fold are expected to support 45W wired charging, while the Flip 8 may continue with a 25W charging option, consistent with previous models.
The Wide Fold is particularly intriguing. Leaks indicate it could adopt a wider 4:3 aspect ratio when unfolded, potentially offering a tablet-like experience, differing from the traditional Fold design. Although it’s still early in the process, it appears Samsung is exploring new possibilities this time around.
Additional battery model numbers have surfaced that do not clearly correspond to the main devices. These could represent test units or alternative versions, but their exact purpose remains uncertain.
With CAD renders already circulating and certifications now secured, the launch timeline appears to be aligning. Samsung is anticipated to unveil the new foldables in July 2026. The inclusion of the new earbuds in these listings further supports this timeline. While details remain sparse, their appearance suggests they may be announced concurrently with the foldables.
