Noida Police Arrests Domestic Helper for Theft, Recovers ₹2 Lakh in Cash

Noida, April 7: The Noida Sector-20 police have achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting a woman who committed theft while working as a domestic helper. The police recovered ₹2,00,000 in cash, which was obtained from the sale of stolen jewelry.

This operation was carried out using manual intelligence and electronic surveillance. According to police reports, the accused, Ruby Devi, was apprehended near Lucknow Airport on April 5, 2026. Ruby, a 32-year-old resident of Bhagalpur district in Bihar, entered homes under the pretense of being a domestic helper to execute her thefts.

During interrogation, Ruby revealed that she had met a woman named Reshma in Delhi, who is currently at large. Reshma’s father is said to be Ruby’s neighbor. Together, they entered a house in Sector-20 under the guise of work in the last week of January 2026 and stole valuable jewelry. After the theft, the two divided the stolen items. Ruby sold her share of the jewelry to an unknown person at a low price.

The police have recovered ₹2 lakh from the proceeds of this sale, while the remaining amount has been spent by Ruby on her needs. Police records indicate that Ruby has a criminal history, with previous theft-related cases registered against her in various police stations in Delhi.

In 2018, cases were also filed against her at Vivek Vihar and Punjabi Bagh police stations. A case has now been registered under relevant sections at Sector-20 police station. The police are actively searching for the absconding accomplice, Reshma, and claim that they will apprehend her soon. Authorities emphasize the importance of thorough background checks before hiring domestic helpers to prevent such incidents.
