Mumbai, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : The misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) has become a pressing concern in recent times. A morphed video related to the song “Chuttamalle” from the film “Devara” went viral on social media, prompting strong backlash from actor Junior NTR, who called for legal action against those responsible. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has also weighed in on the situation.
Varma remarked, “When celebrities discuss objectionable AI content on social media, it often resembles a publicity stunt. This inadvertently draws more viewers to the content, resulting in millions of views. A more effective approach would be to focus on capturing the individual who created the morphed content.”
He further commented, “The attention shifts to both the victim’s identity and the objectionable content due to celebrities’ posts. The real question is why the content itself garners more discussion than the actual perpetrator.”
The controversy gained momentum when a fake video using AI technology portrayed a woman inappropriately. Junior NTR condemned the video on social media, warning of severe legal consequences for its creators and distributors. He described such individuals as having a “disgusting and sick mentality.”
In his post, Junior NTR stated, “In a country where women are revered as mothers and goddesses, and ‘Matridevo Bhava’ is not just a phrase but a cultural ethos, some individuals are using AI to mock a woman in a deeply humiliating manner. Those who create such objectionable content will not be spared.”
He urged the public to refrain from viewing, sharing, or reacting to such content. “Today it happened to someone else, but tomorrow it could happen to anyone’s mother, sister, wife, or daughter. This is a serious issue. I appeal to all state and central governments to establish strict regulations to prevent the misuse of AI.”
