Bhopal, August 28: Former Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh has expressed strong objections regarding the lack of appointments for selected candidates in the Higher Secondary Teacher Recruitment (Class-1) in Madhya Pradesh. He has issued a warning to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, stating that if appointments are not made, he will commence a 24-hour hunger strike on September 5.
In his letter to the Chief Minister, Singh highlighted that candidates from the 2023 Higher Secondary Teacher Recruitment examination have presented their demands. The recruitment process advertised a total of 8,721 positions for the year 2023.
Singh noted that while the main selection examination for eligible candidates was conducted, only 2,901 appointments have been made so far. This leaves 5,820 positions still unfilled. He emphasized that after nearly three years of the recruitment process, the failure to appoint selected candidates is a serious concern. Waiting years for appointments after passing exams and completing the selection process is unjust to the youth.
He pointed out that while there is a pressing need for teachers in schools across the state, selected and qualified candidates are left struggling for their appointments. The government’s actions of advertising positions, conducting selection exams, and then failing to appoint all selected candidates raise significant questions about the administrative system.
Singh mentioned that hundreds of candidates from the Higher Secondary Teacher Recruitment Class-1 are currently protesting and demanding both appointments and roster promotions. He warned Chief Minister Mohan Yadav that if the government does not provide appointments to these selected candidates before Teacher’s Day, he will be compelled to undertake a 24-hour hunger strike starting September 5, 2026.
