Chandigarh, March 15: The three-day All India Representative Assembly of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) concluded on Sunday. The meeting emphasized the need to eliminate caste-based discrimination and called for an end to the practice of caste-based demographic analysis of voters during elections.
RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale addressed the media in Samalkha, Panipat district, stating that the organization supports social harmony and opposes attempts to divide society based on caste.
He praised the central government’s diplomatic efforts amid current global geopolitical conditions, asserting that the RSS advocates for global peace and development.
Hosabale noted that the founder of the RSS, Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, established the organization not to oppose any specific community, religious sect, or mode of worship. He remarked, “Differences in worship practices and rituals do not fundamentally matter.”
Stressing that everyone is welcome in the organization, he added, “We consider anyone engaged in constructive work for society as a volunteer of the RSS.”
Highlighting the expansion of the organization, he mentioned that the number of branches has increased by nearly 6,000, surpassing 88,000, while the areas of operation have grown to over 55,000. The number of weekly meetings and study circles has also risen.
Hosabale pointed out that the organization’s growth is evident in regions such as the Andaman Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Leh, and remote tribal areas. He further stated, “This expansion is also reflected in various programs organized to mark the centenary year of the RSS.”
He referred to events held across the country, noting that over 13,000 participants from nine different islands attended a Hindu conference in the Andaman Islands, which was also graced by RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat.
In Arunachal Pradesh, a sparsely populated state, more than 37,000 people participated in 21 conferences based on indigenous spiritual traditions.
According to Hosabale, alongside its expansion, the RSS is also working to enhance the quality of life and character within society. He emphasized the importance of inspiring positive social change through the concept of Panch Parivartan (Five Changes). He stated, “Indian ethos, or Hindutva, is not just an ideology but a way of life. This way of living should elevate the entire society.”
He also urged society to rise above caste and religious discrimination and honor the contributions of great personalities.
On the occasion of the 350th martyrdom anniversary of the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur, RSS volunteers organized over 2,000 programs nationwide, with participation exceeding 700,000.
He added that the 150th anniversary of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ was also celebrated with great enthusiasm.
Regarding the RSS’s regular training camps, Hosabale announced that 96 camps will be held across 11 regions, including one in Nagpur.
In response to a question from journalists, he mentioned that discussions have taken place regarding the concept of decentralization within the organizational structure.
He explained, “This includes a proposal to change the existing ‘Prant’ (provincial) units to smaller administrative divisions known as ‘Sambhag.’ If implemented, this would increase the current 46 provinces to over 80 such regions.”
The three-day RSS All India Representative Assembly, the organization’s highest decision-making body, saw participation from 1,489 representatives.
Representatives from 32 affiliated organizations, including BJP National President Nitin Naveen and RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, were also present at the event.
