RRP Defense Partners with Israeli Firm for Advanced Thermal-Night Vision Technology

Mumbai, September 1: RRP Defense has entered into a partnership with Israeli defense technology company ESC Baz Ltd. to develop advanced thermal and night-vision systems. The chairman of RRP Defense, Rajendra Chodankar, and ESC Baz’s CEO, Asaf Machlev, announced that the new Diamond System will provide surveillance capabilities akin to daytime visibility at night, covering distances of up to one kilometer at a competitive cost and low power consumption, thereby enhancing border security.

Rajendra Chodankar, founder, chairman, and CEO of RRP S4E Innovation Ltd., stated, “We are introducing a completely new technology that is unique in its own right. As Asaf mentioned, this product allows us to see at night as if it were daytime. Using a highly competitive sensor, which is ESC Baz’s proprietary design, you can acquire a system at a competitive price. This is the right solution, especially since many borders remain unsecured, necessitating more systems.”

He noted that the cost barrier for thermal imaging could be a challenge, and this system could address that issue. It is a thermal system that adapts to changing scenarios, which is increasingly important in modern warfare. “After operations, you can see how the system evolves day by day. The Diamond System is one of the right solutions,” he added.

Chodankar emphasized that with this product, targets will never be missed. “Other systems may fail or encounter difficulties due to environmental conditions, but this system is unaffected by such factors, ensuring your borders remain secure. We are collaborating closely with the Indian Army. This is a very new system, and we have this opportunity in MEILI2, addressing various challenges, particularly with drones, and we have reached a significant agreement.”

He acknowledged that GDP growth does not happen overnight and expressed gratitude to the government for its continuous efforts. “You cannot expect such rapid growth. I have witnessed this journey since 2014. We are thankful for the numerous opportunities that have arisen, leading to revenue generation. We anticipate seeing even better figures in the future.”

Asaf Machlev, CEO of ESC Baz, stated, “In the first phase, we aim to transfer knowledge for electro-optic solutions. Israeli engineers will come to India to provide information on assembly. In the future, we plan to transfer AI capabilities, not only for ground applications but also for drones and solutions for signal interception and communication detection behind mountains.”

He added, “As Israelis, we think outside the box. This is why we understand our customer’s needs and provide complete solutions. For instance, Israel is hotter than India, yet our solutions perform better even in extreme cold and rain. We recognize that electro-optic solutions cannot provide a complete answer during rain; hence, we integrate radar or signals. In aggressive conditions, we combine various technologies to detect enemies.”

Another attendee remarked, “We have a very long range. We cannot say that the Israeli border is entirely different from ours. If you look at Kutch in Gujarat, then move to the desert areas of Rajasthan, including Bikaner, the operational environment is similar to that in Israel. While the operational environment changes as you move north, the Diamond System remains unique.”

He concluded that this system requires very low power and can operate for extended periods. Even in dense forests, posts can be established. A specific point is chosen for monitoring the area. If a soldier uses this camera, they will receive a very clear image of whatever is visible in the border area. “Operation Sindoor was indeed a significant turning point. We need various types of weapon systems and counter-weapon systems,” he said.
