New Delhi, 11 August (HS) — Cristiano Ronaldo’s brilliant brace was not enough to save Al Nassr from defeat, as the Saudi Pro League club went down 2-3 against La Liga 2 side UD Almeria in a pre-season friendly on Sunday.

Almeria took the lead in the 6th minute when Sergio Arribas scored from a Leo Baptistao assist. Just five minutes later, Ronaldo equalised with a precise finish inside the penalty box, following a slick one-touch passing move between Ayman Yahya and Sadio Mane.
The Portuguese star put Al Nassr ahead before halftime, converting a penalty after Almeria goalkeeper Alvaro Fernandez committed a foul inside the box. The goal took Ronaldo’s tally to five in just two matches.
However, a costly error from Al Nassr goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Aqidi turned the game. Venturing out of his box to intercept a pass, he instead gifted the ball to Adrian Embarba, who slotted it into an empty net to level the score.
In the second half, Ronaldo was substituted, and Al Nassr’s attacking threat diminished. Embarba then struck again from an Arribas assist, giving Almeria the decisive lead.
In the dying moments, Joao Felix had a chance to equalise but failed to connect with a low cross from the right, sealing Al Nassr’s narrow defeat.
