New Delhi, March 19: Former wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik and squash star Deepika Pallikal have welcomed a baby girl into their family. The couple announced the joyful news via social media.
They shared, “With gratitude beyond words and prayers in our hearts, we joyfully welcome our beloved daughter into this world. Kabir and Jiaan are thrilled to introduce their little sister, ‘Raha Pallikal Karthik.’ Love, Deepika and Dinesh.”
The couple tied the knot on August 25, 2015, following traditional Hindu and Christian customs. They welcomed twins in 2021.
Dinesh Karthik has been an exceptional wicketkeeper-batsman, representing India across all formats. He is fondly remembered for hitting a six off the last ball to secure the Nidahas Trophy for India against Bangladesh. Karthik was also part of the Indian teams that won the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy. His IPL career has been equally impressive.
After retiring, he has remained active in the cricketing world as a coach and commentator. In IPL 2025, he served as the mentor for RCB, leading them to their first title that season.
Meanwhile, Deepika has made history as the first Indian woman to break into the world’s top 10 squash rankings. A Padma Shri awardee, she has won medals at the Commonwealth and Asian Games, establishing herself as one of the country’s esteemed athletes.
Her last appearance was at the Hangzhou Asian Games in October 2023, where she secured a gold medal in mixed doubles. After returning from maternity leave in early 2022, she made a successful comeback, winning two titles at the World Doubles Squash Championship and earning a bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
