Romain Langasque Leads Danish Golf Championship, Eyes First DP World Tour Title in Six Years

Funen, August 16: Romain Langasque from France is on the brink of winning his first DP World Tour title in six years. He has taken a one-shot lead heading into the final round of the Danish Golf Championship being held at Great Northern. Unfortunately, Indian duo Shubhankar Sharma and Yuvraj Sandhu failed to make the cut.

Langasque carded a five-under-par round of 67, bringing his total score to 14-under. He is one shot ahead of China’s Yanhao Zhou and is in a strong position to secure another victory since his only win at the 2020 Wales Open (Celtic Manor).

The 31-year-old has made the cut in 16 out of 19 events this year, but his top-10 finish at the Magical Kenya Open has placed him 86th in the Race to Dubai rankings.

Langasque began the day two shots behind Antoine Rozner and Cameron Adam. Despite starting his third round in Kerteminde with a bogey, he bounced back with six birdies to take the lead.

Rozner maintained the lead until he reached the par-three 18th hole, where his tee shot found the water, resulting in a double bogey that dropped him to third place with a score of 12-under.

After an initial bogey, Langasque made birdies on the fifth and ninth holes, turning the day with a score of one-under. Solid performances on the 10th, 12th, 14th, and 15th holes helped him jointly secure the lead, ultimately setting the clubhouse target at 14-under.

On Saturday, American Caleb Suratt and England’s Matthew Jordan both shot rounds of 70, tying for fourth place with scores of 11-under. Jeff Winther, with a score of 10-under, finished alone in sixth place, making him Denmark’s top player. Local players Rasmus Hojgaard, Brandon Stone, and Scotland’s Adam and Evan Ferguson tied for seventh place with scores of 9-under.
