Dubai, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : India has set a challenging target of 150 runs for Bangladesh in the first semifinal of the Women’s Asia Cup, held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 10, 2026. Both teams are vying for a spot in the final, scheduled for September 13 at the same venue.
After losing the toss and being put to bat, the Indian team scored 149 runs, losing six wickets in the process. Their innings got off to a rocky start when opener Smriti Mandhana was dismissed for just 2 runs on the last ball of the second over.
Shafali Verma then took charge alongside Pratika Rawal, forming a crucial partnership that yielded 50 runs off 44 balls for the second wicket. Pratika contributed 20 runs, including a six and a four, before being dismissed.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur joined Shafali for the third wicket, adding 33 runs in just 27 balls. Shafali was the standout performer, scoring 64 runs off 40 balls with 3 sixes and 7 fours before her dismissal.
Harmanpreet continued to build momentum with Richa Ghosh, putting together 36 runs for the fourth wicket in 28 balls. Richa scored 16 runs off 21 balls, hitting 2 sixes. The captain remained unbeaten at 24 runs off 28 balls, contributing significantly to the team’s total.
For Bangladesh, Sultana Khatun was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 2 wickets for 30 runs in 3 overs. Marufa Akhtar, Nahida Akhtar, and Rabia Khan each took one wicket.
