Mumbai, September 22 (Daily Kiran) : Riti Tiwari, the daughter of actor and politician Manoj Tiwari, recently shared her experiences of growing up under the pressures associated with being a ‘star kid.’ During a recent episode of Bigg Boss 20, she opened up about her childhood and her relationship with her father.
Many people assume that being the daughter of a celebrity means an easy path paved with wealth, fame, and opportunities. However, Riti revealed a different story. She explained that her father left home when she was very young, and they rarely communicated. She only got to see him once a year, often amid conflicts between her parents.
At 18, Riti decided she wanted to spend more time with her father to understand who he was as a person. However, she felt that by then, it was too late for certain things. Addressing the misconceptions surrounding ‘star kids,’ Riti clarified, “What he earned — his money, fame, and opportunities — did not come to me. I only inherited his name, which brings respect wherever I go.”
She emphasized that Manoj Tiwari made it clear he would not assist her career. He wanted her to carve out her own identity. “He told me outright that he wouldn’t help me in my career. Not out of malice, but because he believed that if I had the talent, I would succeed on my own,” she said.
Riti also discussed the financial struggles she faced, noting that her father did not provide her with significant support for her education or living expenses. “I don’t get much from him. I receive around 20,000 to 25,000 rupees a month. Do you think I can’t earn that much? Sometimes, I eat a 10-rupee vada pav twice a day just to get by,” she shared.
She highlighted the common belief that she enjoys a life of luxury because of her father’s identity. “People think I come from a wealthy family, but that’s not true. I’m just an ordinary person, which makes things challenging,” Riti concluded.
