Islamabad, February 26: The security situation in South Waziristan has deteriorated significantly over the past few months. There has been a noticeable increase in terrorist activities across the region. As a response, Section 144 has been imposed in both Upper and Lower South Waziristan districts.

The district administration implemented this measure to address rising security concerns and facilitate the movement of goods. Officials stated that the decision aims to ensure public safety, maintain law and order, and support the operational activities of security forces.

According to Pakistan’s leading daily, Dawn, the Deputy Commissioner of Upper South Waziristan, Asmatullah Wazir, announced that Section 144 will be in effect from 6 AM to 6 PM local time in the Sarwekai and Sararogha tehsils. During this period, movement on the roads will be restricted, and all markets and business centers will remain closed.

Affected routes include Sarrogha, Kot Kai, Makin, and Spinkai Raghzai, leading up to Nazar Khel. Additionally, the road from Dargai Bridge to Madi Jan, Sheen Warsak, and Mole Khan Sarai to Chagmalai will also be closed.

Deputy Commissioner Musarrat Zaman of Lower South Waziristan reported that Section 144 has been enforced in various parts of Wana. The curfew, effective from 6 AM to 6 PM, prohibits non-essential movement due to security threats and the movement of security forces.

Restricted routes include the area from Taiyra Gate, Karb Kot, Tanai, Wana, to Dargai Bridge. People will only be allowed to travel on the roads in emergencies, provided they have prior permission from the police or security forces, along with valid identification and travel documents.

Zaman urged the public to adhere to safety instructions and avoid unnecessary travel. He emphasized that individuals would be held responsible for any violations.

During the enforcement of Section 144 in both districts, only approved movements will be permitted, and residents are advised to cooperate with security forces.
