Rising Star: Vaibhav Suryaanshi Joins Indias Senior Cricket Team

Samastipur, June 6: Fifteen-year-old batsman Vaibhav Suryaanshi has made history by being selected for India’s senior cricket team for the first time. He will join the squad for the upcoming tours to Ireland and England, as well as the 2026 Asian Games. The announcement has sparked celebrations in his hometown of Tajpur, located in Bihar’s Samastipur district, where firecrackers were set off and sweets were distributed at his home.

Vaibhav’s father, Sanjeev Suryaanshi, expressed his joy to reporters, stating, “Vaibhav is reaping the rewards of his hard work. We hope he scores many runs for the country. Since his selection, congratulations have been pouring in. He has worked hard since childhood. We want to thank the selectors for placing their trust in Vaibhav.”

His uncle, Rajeev Suryaanshi, remarked, “This is a record as Vaibhav is the youngest player ever selected for the Indian T20 team. I want to thank the BCCI for this opportunity. His outstanding performance in the IPL made it clear that he would soon get a chance in the national team.”

Neighbor Rajesh Kumar shared, “We always had hope and awaited this day. Vaibhav has set a record at such a young age, and we knew he would one day play for Team India.”

Another local resident added, “Vaibhav earned his place in Team India through his talent. I was confident he would be selected. The entire Tajpur community is proud of this son.”

Vaibhav Suryaanshi, who scored 175 runs in the Under-19 World Cup 2026 final against England, was the highest run-scorer in IPL 2026 with a total of 776 runs. He has also excelled in youth Test cricket. Expectations are high for his performance in the senior cricket team.
