Rest of India Bowled Out for 237 Runs Against Jammu and Kashmir in Irani Cup

Srinagar, October 1 (Daily Kiran) : In a gripping first day of the Irani Cup held at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar, Rest of India was bowled out for 237 runs. Jammu and Kashmir, in response, faced early challenges, losing two wickets for just 21 runs.

Rest of India, batting first after losing the toss, managed to last only 68.1 overs. The innings began poorly, with Sanat Sangwan dismissed for just 1 run at a score of 8. Shikhar Mohan then partnered with Sudip Gharami, contributing 24 runs for the second wicket.

The team suffered another blow when Sudip was out for 8. Shikhar Mohan, however, steadied the innings alongside Sarfaraz Khan, adding 76 runs for the third wicket off 133 balls. Shikhar scored 60 runs, hitting 9 fours and a six before returning to the pavilion.

Captain Rishabh Pant followed but could only muster 10 runs, marking the fourth wicket loss at a total of 133 runs. Smaran Ravichandran then took charge, forming crucial partnerships. He added 39 runs with Akash Deep for the eighth wicket and 43 runs with Mukesh Chaudhary for the ninth, pushing the score past 200. Smaran finished with a commendable 68 runs, while Akash added 22.

From the Jammu and Kashmir side, Sunil Kumar and Nasir Muzaffar each took three wickets, while Umar Nazir Mir claimed two. Abid Mushtaq and Sahil contributed with one wicket each.

In their reply, Jammu and Kashmir faced a tough start, ending the day at 21 runs with two wickets down. Shubham Pundir was dismissed for 1 at a score of 16, and Umar Mir followed shortly after with 4 runs. By the end of the day, Mukesh Chaudhary and Akash Deep had each taken a wicket.
