Rhea Chakraborty: From Struggles to Success in Fashion After a Tumultuous 2020

Mumbai, June 30: Actress and video jockey Rhea Chakraborty has carved a niche for herself in social media, television, and the film industry through hard work and talent.

Born on July 1, 1992, into a Bengali family, Rhea’s father, Indrajit Chakraborty, served in the army. She completed her early education at the Army Public School in Ambala Cantt.

Rhea began her career in 2009 as the first runner-up on the MTV reality show “TVS Scooty Teen Diva.” Following this, she hosted several popular reality shows, including “Pepsi NTV VASUP,” “Tick Tock College Beat,” “MTV Gone in 60 Seconds,” and “MTV Roadies – Karm ya Kand.”

Her acting debut came in 2012 with the Telugu film “Tuniaga Tuniaga,” followed by her Bollywood entry in 2013 with “Mere Dad Ki Maruti.” Rhea showcased her acting skills and beauty in films such as “Sonali Cable,” “Jalebi,” “Bank Chor,” and “Chehre,” earning recognition among audiences.

However, 2020 marked a turning point in Rhea’s life following the untimely death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. At the time, Rhea was dating Sushant, and his suspicious death thrust her into the media and legal spotlight.

Due to allegations related to drugs, she spent nearly 28 days in jail alongside her brother, Showik Chakraborty. After a challenging five years, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a closure report in March 2025, clearing Rhea of any involvement in Sushant’s death.

Post-2020, Rhea faced a halt in film opportunities. In 2023, she and her brother launched a streetwear fashion brand called “Chapter 2 Drip.” The brand specializes in oversized t-shirts, hoodies, and other unisex clothing, quickly achieving a valuation in the millions.
