New Delhi, July 15: Joat Singh Bisht, Vice President of the Uttarakhand Rural Construction Council, conducted a comprehensive review of ongoing rural infrastructure projects in Tehri district. He instructed officials and staff to complete all construction work within the stipulated time frame, ensuring quality and full transparency. Bisht emphasized that maintaining the pace of development in rural areas is a government priority, and negligence at any level will not be tolerated.
In an interview with a news agency, Bisht expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami for appointing him as Vice President of the Rural Engineering Service Council. He is committed to fulfilling this responsibility with utmost dedication and integrity. During his review meeting with officials and staff in his home district of Tehri, he noted that a total of 186 development projects are underway, involving nearly 20 departments. According to officials, most projects are progressing as scheduled. However, the construction of a primary school building in Kanbund, Chamba block, is facing delays due to the old building not being demolished. Bisht urged the block chief to address this issue, who assured a prompt resolution.
Bisht also provided updates on rural road projects, stating that the department is actively working to connect revenue villages and settlements with populations ranging from 50 to 250 that are excluded from the Prime Minister‘s Rural Road Scheme (PMGSY). In Tehri district, 78 such villages and settlements have been identified. Since 2014-15, 13 roads have been constructed, with plans for 9 new roads and the upgrading of 2 roads this year. The remaining 54 roads will be built in the coming years, resulting in the development of approximately 120 kilometers of road network upon completion.
Earlier, Bisht inspected the under-construction lab at the community health center in Kandisaur. He also reviewed ongoing development works at the Nagraja temple complex in Kamra and police department construction in Bhadra Kali. He noted that the quality of work being carried out by the rural construction department is satisfactory, and the department is fulfilling its responsibilities effectively. Bisht shared practical suggestions based on his administrative experience to enhance efficiency, transparency, and accountability in project execution. He expressed confidence that officials would adopt his advice to serve the public better.
During the review, he praised Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s leadership style. Bisht remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has selected a young leadership for Uttarakhand that not only holds the record for the longest-serving chief minister but has also set new standards for development. Under Dhami’s leadership, the state has implemented the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), achieved top rankings in various categories by the NITI Aayog, and received approval for development projects worth thousands of crores from the central government. Numerous initiatives related to roads, railways, education, health, and community development are progressing rapidly.
He further stated that the Investors Summit held in the state has attracted major industrialists for investment, leading to increased employment opportunities, with over 34,000 youths already employed. Chief Minister Dhami has successfully advanced the developmental trajectory initiated during former Chief Minister Narayan Datt Tiwari’s tenure, playing a crucial role in providing new dimensions to development in Uttarakhand.
