Greater Noida, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : Residents of La Residencia Society in Greater Noida West are experiencing heightened anxiety due to a pair of aggressive owls. Reports indicate that these birds have attacked approximately five to six individuals in the community, leaving residents feeling unsafe, especially during nighttime.
The situation has escalated to the point where community members have sought assistance from forest department officials. They have appealed to the District Forest Officer (DFO) for a safe rescue of the owls. Locals have observed the birds frequently perched on trees, streetlights, and pathways. Eyewitness accounts suggest that the owls swoop down unexpectedly, targeting pedestrians.
Some victims have reported scratches on their heads and bodies from these encounters. The unpredictable nature of the attacks has created a climate of fear, particularly among children, the elderly, and those returning home late from work. Residents noted that there is no specific time for the attacks; individuals can be targeted at any moment while walking through the area.
Photographs taken by residents show the owls resting near the society’s streetlights. They have expressed no desire to harm the birds but have requested that the forest department relocate them safely to their natural habitat.
Residents are urging the forest department to send a team to assess the situation and move the owls to a safer location. They warn that without prompt action, serious injuries could occur, especially to vulnerable groups. In the meantime, community members are advised to exercise caution when walking near trees and streetlights at night and to avoid provoking the owls.
The residents have called for an evaluation of the owls’ behavior and nesting sites to find a solution that protects both the community and the birds. Currently, a sense of fear and concern persists among those living in the society due to the ongoing owl attacks.
