New Delhi, March 25: Congress Rajya Sabha member Renuka Chowdhury has expressed her views on several critical national and international issues. Regarding India’s stance on the Israel-Iran tensions, she stated, “What we are doing today should have been done earlier. The government has now completed this task and moved on. We will have to see what happens next.”
Chowdhury referred to the situation as a “costly deal” for India, emphasizing that the country is currently navigating a very delicate phase. She expressed hope that the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister would understand this situation and proceed with caution. She also noted that there is a significant difference between the COVID period and the present time.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Modi addressed the ongoing conflict in West Asia during a Rajya Sabha session, urging state governments to maintain the nation’s growth, regardless of the crisis’s magnitude. He emphasized the need for swift action and necessary reforms, stating that this is a significant opportunity for state governments and a major test for “Team India.”
Modi further remarked that during the COVID era, both the central and state governments collaborated effectively to manage the crisis, showcasing a commendable model of teamwork. Despite differing political parties, testing, vaccination, and essential supply chains were ensured through collective efforts. He stressed the importance of continuing this spirit to effectively tackle the current global crisis, which is distinct and requires unique solutions.
Discussing West Bengal’s political landscape, Renuka Chowdhury expressed her support for Mamata Banerjee, saying, “We want Mamata Banerjee to win, regardless of who the opponent is. We may have differences, but we wish for her victory and for Congress to advance in Bengal.”
She clarified that this is her personal opinion and urged Banerjee to provide a strong response to the central government.
Regarding Congress’s position in Kerala, she expressed confidence, stating that conditions are favorable and the party is moving towards victory. “We hope to have our Chief Minister there, our government will come, and we will be able to serve the people,” she added.
On the internal disputes over ticket distribution in Haryana, she remarked that such controversies are not new. “This is not the first time. Those who are upset about not receiving tickets often make such statements,” she concluded.
