Ranchi, March 25: The police in Jharkhand’s Ranchi district have achieved a significant victory in their ongoing campaign against drug trafficking. During a raid in the Jariyagarh police station area, authorities seized approximately ₹36 lakh worth of opium and poppy straw. Four suspects were arrested in connection with the operation.

According to police reports, the raid was conducted in the village of Gari, located in the Baksapur Panchayat, based on a tip-off. The information indicated that locals Santosh Aind and Jeevan Jashman Aind, also known as Lebre, were hiding opium and poppy straw in their homes.

Under the direction of SP Manish Toppo, a team led by Torpa SDPO Christopher Kerketta discovered 39.78 kilograms of poppy straw concealed in two bags at Santosh Aind’s residence. Following this, they located 6.320 kilograms of a substance resembling opium in a plastic bucket at Jeevan Jashman Aind’s home.

The arrested individuals include Santosh Aind, Jeevan Jashman Aind, Mahadev Tuti alias Manish, and Jatha Sanga alias Sukra Sanga. During questioning, all suspects admitted their involvement in the illegal opium cultivation and trade.
