Mumbai, May 2: Legendary singer Asha Bhosle may no longer be with us, but her music and memories continue to resonate in the hearts of her fans. In an upcoming episode of Indian Idol, actor Ritesh Deshmukh became emotional while reminiscing about Bhosle.
Ritesh paid tribute to the singer by sharing personal moments they spent together. Reflecting on their relationship, he said, “Whenever she met me, she would affectionately stroke my head like a mother. I always called her ‘Asha Aai’ (Mother Asha) and still remember her by that name.”
He recalled a touching memory where Bhosle, in a casual conversation, asked him in Marathi about his food preferences. This led to a visit to her home, where they shared a meal and talked for hours.
Ritesh described Bhosle as a guiding figure in his life. “Whenever I had a program or appeared on TV, she would always call me. She would talk to me and bless me abundantly,” he shared.
His eyes welled up as he mentioned his upcoming film based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He recalled, “She called me and said, ‘I bless you; make a great film. When it releases, I will definitely watch it.'”
With a heavy heart, Ritesh revealed that just two weeks before the film’s release, he received a call from her family expressing her desire to see the movie. “Unfortunately, ‘Asha Aai’ is no longer with us to watch it. I miss her for many reasons,” he said.
