Panchkula, April 6: On the occasion of the BJP’s foundation day, Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma expressed her views on the Women’s Reservation Bill, targeting the Congress party.
In a conversation, Sharma stated, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised the Women’s Reservation Bill. It was supposed to be implemented by 2029, but our government is making some changes and is bringing it forward. We expect this legislation to be enacted soon. However, some parties are opposing the amendment because they do not want to give space to women within their own ranks. These are anti-women parties.”
Sharma emphasized, “Our party aims to elevate women’s power. Men and women must work together in the house for the country to progress. When women enter politics, the issues of half the population can be resolved more easily.”
When asked about Congress not participating in meetings and their lack of clarity on the bill, Sharma remarked, “These people are exhausted from losing. Senior leaders have no hope from the Congress party. They failed to bring this bill during their ten years in power because allies like Mulayam Singh and Lalu Yadav opposed it. However, this time Congress and the opposition must pass the bill; otherwise, what will they say to women about their opposition?”
Responding sharply to the question of whether the BJP is bringing the Women’s Reservation Bill to prevent Rahul Gandhi from becoming Prime Minister, Sharma said, “Even if the BJP does not bring this bill, Rahul Gandhi will not become Prime Minister. If he does, what will happen to the country? Everyone knows his nationalist thinking; he will never become Prime Minister.”
Regarding Akhilesh Yadav’s statement about the census before the bill, Sharma commented, “His father also opposed it. They are against the public; the public will teach them a lesson.”
