Gurdeep Mehndi Addresses Controversy Surrounding Father Daler Mehndis Performance

Mumbai, October 23 (Daily Kiran) : Gurdeep Mehndi has spoken out regarding the recent controversy surrounding his father, renowned singer Daler Mehndi, during a Navratri event in Uttarakhand. In a conversation, Gurdeep reassured fans that his father’s health has improved.

The incident occurred on October 18, 2026, when Daler Mehndi was performing at the annual Siddhpeeth Maa Kunjapuri Tourism and Development Fair. His performance was abruptly halted by Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, who publicly accused him of being intoxicated, struggling to speak, and lip-syncing despite being paid a hefty sum of 3.5 million rupees.

Family and supporters of Daler Mehndi have stated that he recently underwent surgery and was not in good health at the time. Medical professionals have also expressed that it is inappropriate to accuse someone of drinking without a proper medical examination, especially based on slurred speech or difficulty in speaking.

Daler’s brother, singer Mika Singh, has vocally opposed these allegations, challenging anyone to prove that Daler consumes alcohol, stating he would quit singing if such claims were substantiated. Mika has called for intervention from the Chief Minister in this matter.

Several Bollywood figures, including comedian Kapil Sharma, singer Ila Arun, and rapper Badshah, have publicly supported Daler Mehndi, condemning the manner in which the situation was handled.

In light of the escalating controversy, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached out to Mika Singh, emphasizing the importance of respecting artists in the state and suggesting that misunderstandings could be resolved through dialogue.
