Controversy Erupts Over Digvijay Singhs Sanatan Yatra Involving Children
Madhya Pradesh minister Vishwas Sarang criticizes Digvijay Singh for involving children in political chants during his Sanatan Yatra.

Bhopal, October 23 (Daily Kiran) : Madhya Pradesh Minister Vishwas Sarang has sharply criticized former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh’s ‘Sanatan Yatra,’ accusing him of tarnishing the reputation of Sanatan Dharma. Sarang claimed that Singh’s actions during the yatra, particularly involving young girls in political chants, constitute a violation of their human rights.
In a statement, Sarang expressed his support for the state Human Rights Commission’s involvement and condemned the Congress party’s silence on the issue. He stated, “Such actions should not occur. Inviting young girls to political events, pressuring them to participate, and making them chant slogans is a clear violation of human rights.”
Sarang emphasized the importance of respecting traditions during the Navratri festival, where power is worshipped, and the symbolic burning of evil during Dussehra. He noted that while the worship of young girls is a common practice among those who honor Sanatan, pressuring them into political slogans is unacceptable.
He reiterated his belief that Singh is conducting this yatra to discredit Sanatan Dharma for his political gain, asserting, “There is no need for such a journey to gain political visibility. We should not defame Sanatan.”
The controversy gained traction following the emergence of a video showing children participating in political chants during Singh’s yatra. In response, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) took suo motu cognizance of the matter. The NHRC has issued notices to the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police in Madhya Pradesh, directing them to conduct a fair investigation and submit a report within two weeks. The commission has stated that using children in political activities violates their rights.
