Ravi Gupta Discusses Transformation in TV Industry and Character Depth

Mumbai, October 3 (Daily Kiran) : Actress Ravi Gupta is currently starring as Damini in the second season of the popular serial “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.” She recently shared her thoughts on how the television industry has changed over the years.

In a recent interview, Gupta noted the rapid growth of the industry in recent years, expressing optimism for its future. “The industry will continue to evolve, especially in terms of technology,” she stated. Comparing the current season of “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi” to earlier shows, she highlighted the significant advancements in production techniques.

Discussing her character, Gupta revealed that audiences initially expected Damini to be a negative role, given her previous portrayal of antagonistic characters. However, she clarified that Damini is a relatable woman facing her own struggles. “She doesn’t create unnecessary drama, which makes her unique,” Gupta explained.

The actress also observed a shift in how characters are depicted in daily soaps. “In the past, negative roles were often portrayed as entirely evil, with no redeeming qualities,” she said. “Especially with female characters, a positive role would be idealized, while negatives were exaggerated. Now, I see a change where characters have more depth, which is a positive development.”

Gupta further commented on the portrayal of women in daily soaps, recalling a time when they were often shown as oppressed, only valued for their sacrifices for family. “Such portrayals can hinder real-life progress for women,” she noted. “Today, we are witnessing characters addressing critical issues like domestic violence and marital rape, which is essential and impactful in society.”

Ravi Gupta’s insights reflect a broader transformation in the television landscape, where storytelling is becoming more nuanced and relevant.
