Mumbai, April 3: Bollywood star Randeep Hooda, known for captivating audiences with his performances, is not the only one stepping into the limelight. His mother, Asha Hooda, has made her debut in the film industry.
Asha Hooda has taken her first steps into regional cinema, and her son celebrated this milestone with a playful message.
In the Haryanvi film “Sangi,” Asha plays the role of a grandmother. Randeep shared a photo of his mother, expressing his excitement: “When it was time for mom’s role, she wasn’t available, and now she’s straight into the grandmother’s role… I’m thrilled to see you on screen, mom! Congratulations to the entire team.”
The film “Sangi” premiered on the Haryanvi OTT platform “Stage” on Thursday, following the release of its impressive trailer a day earlier.
The story revolves around an artist who loves to dance and performs as a woman in his village. This art form, known as “Sangi” in Haryana, is typically associated with transgender performers. The character, Kuldeep, aspires to gain recognition as a Sangi while facing challenges from both his family and the villagers. The narrative highlights the struggle to gain recognition for this art form.
Notably, Randeep was appointed as the brand ambassador for the Stage app a few months ago. Since then, he has been actively supporting regional Haryanvi films and has even invested in several projects.
Previously, Randeep’s sister, Anjali Hooda, made her debut in Hindi cinema with a small role in his film “Swatantrya Veer Savarkar.” She played a crucial role in helping Randeep manage his weight for the film, where he lost 18 kilograms in 28 days to portray the character under prison conditions, eating only once a day.
