Rajsamand (Patrika English News): The water level of Rajsamand Lake, the largest lake in the district, has now reached 28.20 feet, while its full capacity is 30 feet. This means the lake needs less than 2 feet of additional inflow to overflow.

According to irrigation department records, the lake level was measured at 8 AM on Saturday. Before the onset of monsoon, the lake stood at 14.50 feet, and so far, it has received an inflow of more than 14 feet of water this season.

Inflow Slows as Rainfall Stops

Rainfall across Rajsamand district has halted for the past two days. With this, the inflow from rivers such as Gomti, Banas, and Chandrabhaga has slowed down. In the Kumbhalgarh area, the Bagheri Naka dam’s overflow has reduced from 1.5 feet 18 inches to 11 inches, which has also lowered the flow in the Banas River. Similarly, reduced rainfall in Garbor and Sevanti has led to a decline in the Gomti River’s flow.

Current Status of Dams

Out of the district’s 102 small and large dams, 72 are now full to capacity. Meanwhile, Rajsamand Lake continues to receive water from the Khari feeder and the Banas River, though at a slower pace.

Local residents and visitors have been flocking to the Nau Chouki Pal area to witness the rising waters of the lake, as anticipation builds for the lake to reach its full level.
