Guwahati, April 8: The 13th match of IPL 2026 took place on Tuesday at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, where Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced off against Mumbai Indians (MI). Due to rain, the match was reduced to 11 overs per side, resulting in MI’s defeat by 27 runs. The standout performers for RR were openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Surya Vanshi. Following the match, RR captain Riyan Parag lauded both players.
Parag stated, “I have no words to describe Vaibhav Surya Vanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal. They are currently at the top as openers in this IPL. They possess youth and talent. Vaibhav is simply amazing. If you had seen him in Ahmedabad, he understood the conditions and adapted well. Jaiswal has been doing this for 3-4 years now. I believe both are excelling due to their skills and maturity at such a young age.”
He further expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, stating, “Winning three matches in a row feels great. The way the boys played, I couldn’t ask for more; I can only praise them. I always knew this team was strong. Even during the auction, I was aware that we had a solid core group, and they are quite young. Not everyone believed in us, but I hope we can change perceptions with our performances.”
In terms of the match, MI won the toss and opted to bowl first. RR capitalized on explosive batting from openers Vaibhav Surya Vanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal, scoring 150 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Surya Vanshi scored 39 runs off 14 balls, hitting 5 sixes and 1 four, while Jaiswal remained unbeaten at 77 runs off 32 balls, including 4 sixes and 10 fours.
Chasing a target of 151, MI never seemed to be in contention for victory. They managed only 123 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 11 overs, losing the match by 27 runs.
For RR, Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande took 1 wicket each, while Nandre Burger, Sandeep Sharma, and Ravi Bishnoi claimed 2 wickets each. Yashasvi Jaiswal was named Player of the Match.
