Yashasvi Jaiswal Shines as Rajasthan Royals Defeat Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026

Guwahati, April 8: The 13th match of IPL 2026 took place on Tuesday at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, where Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced off against Mumbai Indians (MI). Due to rain, the match was reduced to 11 overs per side, resulting in MI losing by 27 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal, who played a pivotal role in RR’s victory, was named Player of the Match.

After the game, Jaiswal shared his thoughts, stating, “With only three overs in the powerplay, I was considering which bowler to target. When Deepak Chahar bowled the first over, I decided to go after him. Then Vaibhav charged Jasprit Bumrah.”

Jaiswal emphasized his focus during the match, saying, “I stay completely immersed in the game, constantly thinking about which shots to play and when to be aggressive against specific bowlers. I am always working on new shots and adapting to different pitch conditions. When a particular shot is needed, I try to play it without hesitation. I also adjust my game according to the team’s needs.”

He praised his opening partner, Vaibhav Suryawanshi, noting, “He is playing brilliantly and working hard. We communicate frequently and share positive messages. I don’t give him any specific directions; he is a smart player who understands the game well. He is enjoying his cricket.”

In terms of the match, MI won the toss and opted to bowl first.

RR posted a total of 150 runs for the loss of three wickets, thanks to explosive batting from openers Vaibhav Suryawanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Suryawanshi scored 39 runs off 14 balls, hitting five sixes and one four, while Jaiswal remained unbeaten at 77 runs from 32 balls, including four sixes and ten fours.

Chasing a target of 151, MI never seemed to be in contention for victory. They managed to score only 123 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their 11 overs, falling short by 27 runs. For RR, Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande took one wicket each, while Nandre Burger, Sandeep Sharma, and Ravi Bishnoi claimed two wickets each.
